My name is Emma R. and I am a 2018 graduate of St. John the Apostle Catholic School. I attended SJS for 10 years and it was like a second home; the teachers and students are a second family. My time here and the experiences I had helped me grow into the person I am today.
There are many reasons I like SJS-here are just a few. The class sizes are small allowing the teachers time to work with students one-on-one. The teachers truly care for each student and do everything they can to support them every day. Not only do they teach readings, writing, and arithmetic, but they also teach religion, social studies, and science. There are also teachers that teach art, music, Spanish, computers and PE and we even have a wonderful librarian. Along with the academics, students are encouraged and given many opportunities to participate in community service projects such as, visiting nursing homes, working with the food pantry and baby world, and helping the homeless in Unity Park.
The most amazing thing about SJS is that it is a Catholic school, which means the students are allowed to freely practice and grow in their faith. The school day beings and end in prayer and there is also prayer throughout the day. Students attend weekly Mass, First Friday Mass, and Mass on Holy Days of Obligation. Students at SJS pray the rosary as a class and school community, and are given the opportunity to attend adoration. Not only are students taught about their Catholic faith, but they are given the opportunities to actively live out their faith daily.
